Dimeo Construction is leading Target’s aggressive growth spurt into New
England (the last area to be ‘targeted’ in the country) as their
premiere General Contractor for RI, MA, CT and NH. Nearly 1,000 Target
Stores operate in 46 states, averaging126,000 sf in size and providing
employment for about 214,000 people.
Dimeo’s involvement with Target continues to grow and spread beyond a
few stores into what is now a $100 million program, encompassing
various New England states. In the1999 cycle, Dimeo completed 4 stores:
in Warwick, RI; Taunton, MA; North Attleboro, MA; and Nashua, NH.
During the 2000 cycle, Dimeo produced 5 additional stores in Saugus,
MA; Everett, MA; Milford, MA; Waterford, CT; and New Britain, CT. 2001
brought about the completion of stores in Framingham and Seekonk, MA;
and the 2002 cycle so far includes stores in Smithfield, RI; and
Kingston, MA.
A program of this size and capacity requires a strong, effective team
effort. Heading up the Dimeo team is Christopher Romano, Project
Executive, who offered, "Target represents a prime example of the
partnering and teamwork that is emerging in today’s building market. We
continue to work closely with Target to increase the geographic area
and quantity of stores constructed, and look forward to a long-term
relationship of new construction and eventual remodeling of the
original stores."
The Target program represents the largest retail undertaking in Dimeo’s
history. Not only is the program exciting to New England shoppers; it
is also an achievement for Dimeo and reinforces Dimeo’s position as a
leader in the retail market. Dimeo is proud to construct the majority
of Target’s New England stores and looks forward to a future of many,
many more.
Two recent Target projects completed with D’Agostino
TARGET FRAMINGHAM
This multi-phased project consisted of the demolition of the existing
Framingham Mall. New construction included on-site and off-site road
improvements. 95% of the original Framingham Mall was removed while
only 2 existing tenants and 1 anchor store remained in operation. New
construction of the Target Store was performed around and over the
existing tenants. Special provisions were needed to maintain pedestrian
traffic during the entire construction process.
The new building is in excess of 145,000 sf of load bearing masonry.
The design consisted of conventional 8" & 12" CMU, split face block
and brick veneer. The building was designed differently than the
prototypical Targets in an effort to compliment the surrounding retail
developments in town. This project is considered one of Target’s finest
and will serve them well into the future.
